Sam had a good visit with the family today, then chatted online with a good friend for an hour (smiling all the time), then sent me on 4 runs to the cafeteria - he's making up for lost time! It was SO GOOD to see him smiling and chatty again - he even told a nurse he was "in good spirits." I can see how important friendships will be in...

No more nosebleeds overnight or this morning (hurrah!) but quite a bit of nausea. He also has started asking for specific foods - at 7 this morning it was a 100% fruit juice popsicle (no puedo), at 9 it was for round peppermints. During the 5 minutes it took me to procure the peppermints, he'd fallen into a deep sleep. Several people have come...

Sam's platelet count was down, so he's getting a transfusion right now. At one point in the night, he woke up and called out "I love you, Mom" to me. Even when he's awake, he's pretty groggy, but he was pretty clear about that. :)

The dr says that Sam is responding better than expected to the chemo treatment - he has less than 50% of the leukemia cells than before. YAY!

I can't respond to everyone who has sent an email or message, but THANK YOU for all your prayers and support. Sam has had a rough time yesterday and today with a pic line (not sure about the spelling, it's a more permanent IV) that kept seeping blood. Seeing all the blood on his sheets and realizing he'd have to go through another painful...

Sam is getting some much needed sleep. He did throw up a few times last night (including the Percoset, so he was unable to eat and was pretty bummed about that); we're going to see if he needs something different than Zofran for the nausea. I'm going home at some point later today. My sister, Emily, is staying at our house for the time being...
